How to TAKE CARE of your BANNU Gold-Plated Jewelry ?

You can extend the life of gold-dipped jewelry and keep it bright and beautiful by properly caring for it. Here are some suggestions:

  • Keep chemicals, oils, and cosmetics away from gold-plated jewelry. After applying makeup, hairspray, and perfumes, it’s best to put on your plated jewelry last. Remove gold-plated jewelry when doing chores since the chemicals in soaps, detergents, and cleaners can damage the plating.
  • When handling gold-dipped jewelry, it’s best to wash your hands before placing them on the jewelry.
  • You should not expose gold-plated jewelry to chlorinated or salty water. Remember, there is no such thing as gold waterproof jewelry. Even pure gold loses its shine when exposed to water. So, before swimming in pools, hot tubs, or the sea, take off your jewelry.
  • Body oils and sweat can damage gold plating; to avoid this, clean or wipe jewelry down regularly to remove pollutants. Cleaning your gold-plated jewelry regularly will help it last longer. When doing this, use a light liquid soap and warm water. Avoid using abrasive cleaning solutions or strong chemicals.
  • Avoid rubbing and friction with plated jewelry, as this will cause the piece to wear down. This friction can happen when you layer gold-plated jewelry, and the pieces rub against each other.
  • When storing gold-dipped jewelry, it’s essential to keep it in a cool and dry place. Avoid storing gold in humid areas such as the bathroom. It’s also best not to store multiple pieces of jewelry together since they can rub against each other and damage the gold plating.

Gold-plated jewelry is made by covering a base metal with a thin layer of gold. The thickness of the gold layer varies, but it is typically between 0.5 and 2.5 microns thick. Our jewelry is plated in 18k Gold.

Gold-plated jewelry and solid gold jewelry are different in terms of their composition and value.
Gold-plated jewelry is made by coating a base metal (such as brass or copper) with a thin layer of gold through a process called electroplating. The layer of gold on gold-plated jewelry is usually less than 0.5 microns thick. This type of jewelry is less expensive than solid gold jewelry, but it can still have a similar appearance to solid gold.
On the other hand, solid gold jewelry is made entirely of gold and is more valuable than gold-plated jewelry. The purity of the gold in solid gold jewelry is measured in karats (not to be confused with carats, which measure the weight of a gemstone). The higher the karat, the more pure the gold. For example, 24-karat gold is pure gold, while 18-karat gold is 75% gold and 25% other metals.

Gold plating offers a variety of benefits for both practical and aesthetic purposes. Here are some of the key benefits of gold plating:

  1. Aesthetic Appeal: Gold plating provides a luxurious and elegant appearance that can enhance the aesthetic appeal of jewelry pieces.
  2. Corrosion Resistance: Gold is highly resistant to corrosion, which means that gold-plated items are less likely to tarnish or rust over time, making them a durable and long-lasting option.
  3. Cost-Effective: Gold plating is a cost-effective way to achieve the look and feel of solid gold without the high cost associated with pure gold.
  4. Versatility: Gold plating can be applied to a wide variety of materials, including metal.
  5. Hypoallergenic Properties: Some gold plating options can be hypoallergenic, making them suitable for individuals with sensitive skin who may have allergic reactions to other metals.
  6. Customization: Gold plating can be customized in terms of thickness, color, and finish to meet specific design and functional requirements.
